Productive day, so far

Got up. Went to a doctor's appointment with a hemotologist. He said that my case was "interesting" so he also had a student from the U of M in on my case.

Found out, I'm definitely anemic. It's this form where my red blood cells are small, yadda yadda yadda. Got my blood drawn and scheduled more appointment for after Thailand. Still don't know what's going, but he was nice and knowledgeable.

He did say that when I plan to have children in the future I should have my partner's genes checked out. He said this more intelligently and professionally, I'm paraphrasing and simplifying. Which actually is pretty interesting - since most African American and Asian males, specifically Southeast Asian males have a higher chance of carrying the anemia gene I should stop while I'm ahead and just date non-Asians and Afrian American males. Mix it up a little.

Then I dropped off my prescription for folic acid and went to have lunch with a City Council member. This was set up through the union at work. It was fun and challenging. We exchanged ideas and opinions about the needs of the city and got to know each other.

It felt all important and stuff. I'm getting better at talking about myself and as a great mentor once said, it's not what you know, it's who you know. So, all-in-all, it's been a productive day, so far.

That's so scary...I havent been too sick here...but once in awhile I wake up with a swollen eye and a cough and sniffling nose from time to time. Get better so we can enjoy Thailand to the max.

Haha, that's funny that your label for this post is "anemia." I just thought that was funny, I'm not saying that anemia itself is funny because my mom has anemia. A few years ago she had a bloody nose and it wouldn't stop because her blood was so "thin." Awareness is a great thing though, problems relating to anemia can be controlled and are preventable. Have fun in Thailand!
