Disclaimer: I'm going to geek-out a little bit here so bear with me.

Where to begin, how should I tell this story? Maybe with the end and I'll end with the beginning or some mixture thereof.

I stayed up until 4:45 AM finishing up season 3 of Dawson's Creek. Yes, I said it, Dawson's Creek, the WB hit of the early 21st Century. And it wouldn't be so bad - the staying up late, but I had to work this morning at 9 AM and I've been getting in the bad habit of staying up for unreasonable hours, along the lines of 18 - 20 hours consecutively. And for those who know me know that I have no affinity to dreaming while I'm alseep, so the abbreviated slumber that I fall into have been free of the distraction of dreams. Or maybe I'm just so tired that I don't remember dreaming and that's okay with me too. So as brief as the rest has been, it's been well-enjoyed.

Now back to the subject in this blog. This season aired in 2000, so I was a senior in high school and I was caught up then in the melodrama of these Capeside High students, though I remember being a little perturbed that they were juniors that year, because the show started with the characters and me in the same year, but they had a weird off-season and became a grade younger. Anyway, yes I was a fan, but I think I was also caught up in my own high school schtuff that year and wasn't as engaged in this season. It was fun to re-watch the Dawson, Pacey, Joey drama unfold. And I wasn't at all fond of the Jen character, but I so am now. She has so much autonomy.

There was a bunch of angsty, annoying teen moments, a lot of good attempts at political commentary, and edgy breakthrough scenes with an attempt at "friends with benefits" without the now familiar coined term, the first awkward yet carpe diem kiss of two male characters, and of course in the true test of the sign of the times, the flannels-and-random striped shirts-for-the guys and prairie-shirts-for-the-girls wardrobe. And the oft mentioned high end vernacular of SAT-type vocabulary as spoken by the characters was present and appreciated.

I don't frequent the Korean or Thai dramas that many in my family are fond of viewing. Not my cup of tea, but give me a season of a variety of tv shows on DVD and I'm hooked. A few that I'm addicted to is Weeds, Gilmore Girls, Monk, SatC, Friends and hopefully soon TrueBlood. Oh and Gray's Anatomy as well. What's not to like, I don't have to wait a week for the guilty pleasures and no commercials.

But back to the Creek gang. Because it's called Dawson's Creek, I bought into the idea of Dawson and Joey. And I know how it ends, and even that threw me a little, but I wanted to go back and see how it happened and I'm glad the writers and creators got it right. I'm getting season 4 in a few days and it's less exciting when the couples that are supposed to be together already are, it's anticlimactic, but I'll watch it and hopefully just fast forward to the last couple shows of the show in it's entirety. Sometimes I like to know how something ends and then go back and watch the nuances of the moments and the journey.

It was always going to be Joey and Pacey. I always liked them better as the romantic couple. The true love story for the title character, Dawson, was one of friendship. And in this I find that families are forever but real friends are hard to find because they are not obligated by blood or duty, they're there because they want to be and maybe even sometimes when they don't want to be. This idea is amplified for me because I've found it to be true for me. The funny thing is, if the show was on now I couldn't care less for it, kinda like the Gossip Girl of the present. Don't watch it, don't want to. But the show captured me at that age 8-9 years ago, and the same odd years later, I can appreciate it more.

I never liked Dawson's Creek. I don't know why. I just never kept up with it. Anyways, I watched Bridget Jones the other night. I've never seen it. It's so ironic because she visits Thailand and gets arrested. hahahh. I really like Renee Z. I bought 5 bootleg movies and got 1 free for 500 baht which is equivalent to $15. I bought Benjamin Button, Sex and the City, Slumdog Millionaire, He's Just Not That Into You, New In Town, and one more chick flick that I can't recall at the moment. I've already seen all the movies except New In Town...this is the start of my bootleg collection. eheheh. Sry, my phone ran out of baht while talking to you...will call you another time. Hope all is well. Miss you much.
